Description

The eighth entry in the Futile Comics anthology series focuses on the story of Alberto Abellano, a political theory and history professor working for a state-run university in a failing democracy in Venezuela. When faced with the opportunity of becoming head of his department, he must decide between his passion for education and country, or the safety of his family and wife, who urges him to migrate in order for them to have a more stable environment in which to raise their young child.

A reflection on the personal sacrifices that must be made in order to stand for one's principles and what it really means to "survive", this issue is another entry in a series which seeks to explore the multiplicity of stories from my upbringing in Caracas, Venezuela through a sci-fi and fiction lens.
